100% employee-owned general contractor

Building a legacy of shared success since 2024

Ownership belongs to the people who build it.

In November 2024, A.R. Mays Construction became a 100% employee-owned company through the establishment of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). After nearly four decades as one of Arizona's leading general contractors, this transition created a multi-generational succession plan that secures the company's future while giving every employee a direct stake in its success.

An ESOP is an employee benefit plan that grants ownership shares to employees at no cost to them. As the company grows, so does the value of each employee's stake — aligning individual effort with collective results on every project we build.

We act like we own the place, because we do.

What employee ownership means for our work

When the people running your project are also owners of the company, they show up differently. That's the difference with A.R. Mays. Employee ownership means real accountability, real craftsmanship, and real commitment on every project we take on across Arizona, California, and the Southwest.

What employee ownership means for our team

Every employee at A.R. Mays shares in the company's success. Stick around, and your commitment turns into real equity. Your work has a direct impact on what we build and what you take home. That ownership mindset shows up in how we collaborate, how we problem-solve, and how we show up for each other. Field to front office.

When employees are owners, everyone benefits.

01 / Contribution

We contribute by supporting one another and bringing our best forward, understanding that collective success is built on individual commitment.

02 / Integrity

As employee-owners, we act with integrity because our decisions directly impact the company we collectively own and the reputation we work to protect.

03 / Responsibility

Ownership creates responsibility and accountability because when outcomes matter to the business, they matter personally to the people responsible for delivering them.
