Adam R. Mays, President / LEED AP

Adam R. Mays

With a strong work ethic, and inherent passion for creating end results, Adam advanced through various trades in the construction industry during his early years. His interest in building resulted in a transfer from Miami University of Ohio to the School of Construction at Arizona State University. With over 15 years of experience in the building industry, Adam formed A.R. Mays Construction in 1986 to be a proactive builder that customers could rely on to prevail over industry challenges, create superior product, and meet or exceed their expectations. In addition to construction, Adam is active in his community supporting many of the local philanthropies as well as community services.


Joe Barth, Executive Vice President

Joseph T. Barth

As a Principal, Joe contributes to the Company’s success through his participation and guidance in the creation, analysis, development and implementation of operational strategies and objectives. He is also responsible for instituting and maintaining an effective and efficient financial management system. With over 20 years experience in the construction industry, and holding a BS degree in Business Administration from Ohio Northern University and an MBA degree from the University of Phoenix, Joe has the experience and technical expertise that allows him to function in both operational and financial leadership roles. Joe enjoys sharing this knowledge with others as an active member of Construction Financial Management Association, Alliance for Construction Excellence, and Arizona Builders Alliance.


Eric M. Larson, Vice President Business Development

Eric M. Larson

Eric has been with the company for 10 years. He contributes over 25 years of construction administration and real estate development experience. Initiating and building long term client relationships is a passion Eric shares with all Company members. He directs and actively participates in all aspects of the Company’s Business Development and Marketing activities including setting and implementing strategy for both Private and Public work pursuits. Additionally, Eric is dedicated to continuously working to improve Arizona’s business climate. He currently is serving on a number of Board of Directors and Commissions for organizations similarly committed to this goal. He holds a BS/BA degree from the University of Denver and an MBA degree from the University of Southern California.


Jim Schwenk, Vice President of Construction / LEED AP

James Schwenk

Jim is an experienced builder having moved from the trades to top management with over 20 years in the industry. He is responsible for developing and implementing the A.R. Mays Construction quality control process for both Preconstruction and Construction Operations. Jim also created the Company’s tiered training program which encompasses Orientation, Operations, Industry, and Career education. “Our product is more than constructing buildings. Everyone at A.R. Mays Construction is educated on understanding our customer’s needs and how to incorporate them within our product. This is achieved through our customized education and training program.” The source of Jim’s compassion comes directly from life experience and progressive advancement in construction management. Jim has completed numerous training courses in Construction Management, Litigation, Leadership, and Communication. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a graduate of the Arizona Builder’s Alliance’s Leadership Development Forum.
